Day 207 ~ Honey Do…

In February I was running on pure adrenaline and took on the responsibility of keeping things running smoothly and without a hitch.  Not so much any more.    It has become abundantly clear that there are things that are just not going to get done.   I have become like the kid in the last month of school before summer break “not a whole lot shit is getting done and I don’t give a rats ass”.   With Chris coming home in less than six weeks I have basically thrown my hands up in the air and have succumb to pure exhaustion.

Things that are not going to get done as planned.

1.  There is a big old pile of leaves sitting in our yard and I can not express enough how much I am praying for a big wind to descend upon us.

2.  One detached curtain rod that has been balancing on the center clasp for 6 month.  Which is no easy task with one curious four-year old.

2.  I had the most unfortunate run in with a curb and the  front bumper of my Mustang…..ugh.

3.  Christmas lights this year are a no go.

4.  And all the light bulbs I changed as the beginning of the year need changing again.

5.  The garage door quit working about a month ago (yes I tried changing the batteries…duh)

6.  The ice machine and water dispensers quite working in the fridge so long ago I can’t remember when.

7.  And the girls had one unfortunate accident with one bedroom closet door which is now leaning against the wall.  I didn’t bother to ask  what happened  since everyone was OK…

I am sure there are other things that need a fixin’ but they have escaped me now.    I love you babe and I can’t wait for you to come home and not just so you can fix stuff either but fixing stuff will be very cool….

Day 206 ~ Writing “Happy Thanksgiving”

To put in perspective when Chris left ten months ago we had a 15-year-old who couldn’t drive now we have a 16-year-old who thinks she an “experienced” driver,  I chuckle.     We had an 7-year-old who was struggling to decide if she wanted to stay in Karate now we have a 8-year-old who can break boards.   When Chris left we had a 3-year-old who did know her “A’s” from her ” Z’s”.  Now we have a 4-year-old who can write to her dad and wish him “Happy Thanksgiving”.

Day 205 ~ In Honor

“Thank you for stepping forward when others step back.
Thank you for placing yourself between us and danger.
Thank you for delaying plans for college, marriage, and other opportunities and choosing to serve.

Thank you for braving the unspeakable horrors of war.
Thank you for sacrificing time with your families and missing those significant milestones the rest of us take for granted.
Thank you to your spouses who find themselves living nomadic lives, often far away from the support of loved ones.
Thank you to your children who accept your absence as a way of life and understand they share you with a nation and sometimes the world.
Thank you to your parents who have nothing but prayers to protect you and must now trust you will be safe and that we will offer the best we have to you.
Thank you for continuing to support your country once you leave military service by following new careers and becoming the teachers, clergy, business
owners, employees, pilots, civil servants and so much more that we need to be a successful society.
Thank you for involving yourself in your local community, your state, and your country, helping us to solve problems and to create a vision for our future using the skills you learned during your tour of duty.
Thank you for being a conscience to our nation.
Thank you for serving as a heroic example of who we are and what we can dream to be.
Thank you for your service. Thank you for stepping forward when others step back.

Day 204 ~ One of the good ones….

As a family growing up in the 80’s we spent a lot of time playing games.  Yahtzee, Cribbage, Monopoly and too many others to list.  And throughout the years we have tried to teach our girls some of our favorites.  It is pretty awesome  when Uncle Josh comes to town because he likes to carry on the tradition and offer up a little Niece  and Uncle time with a rowdy game of Yahtzee.

For having only one Uncle the girls most certainly lucked out because not to many Uncles would have the patience to teach one little four-year old the fine art of Yahtzee.  Now if only Josh would buckle down and make me an Aunt because I am so looking forward to all of the fun of kids with none of the responsibility 🙂
